What Type of Decision-Maker Are You?

Success in life depends on the nature of making decisions. How best, fast and better decisions you make? Today, we are going to discuss who are decision-makers and what they do?

If you are new in Digital Marketing and recently started writing. This article will hopefully help you to become the right kind of decision-makers.

I hope it will give you deep insight into the nature of people and clearance which types of decision-makers are in our society.

This article will make you understand which type of decision-maker are you?

“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.” Wade Boggs

Let us see who are the decision-makers and what they do. We find some people are very quick in making any decisions. They don’t waste unnecessary time compared to other people who seem to be confused in deciding their important issues.

We will try to know why it happens? If you are a new blogger, be a good decision-maker

Why do people have different decision-making capability?

Every person has a different aptitude and perception. Taking any crucial decision needs proper information and knowledge. It needs will-power also. One needs to ask his parents, mentors, or seniors if he is not in the condition to take all decisions on his own. What is the crucial factor that forces into taking decisions?

I will give some insights that I think is one of the most important Elements that cause a person’s decision-making ability.

“You can’t make decisions based on fear and the possibility of what might happen.” — Michelle Obama

Behind every decision, whether it is right or wrong, there are some purpose, objectives, and motives. It depends on the particular situation, place, or motive. One has to keep in mind before taking any decision, what is the end objective behind any particular decision factor.

Mind to it and maintain a positive attitude.”- Lou Holtz

I have divided them into 5 major categories of Decision Makers-

All those 5 major decision-makers and how they behave, what they do, and how they take decisions, let’s understand each of them.

1)Maximizer or Amplifier-

The person who has a single objective to opt for the best possible Interest. He only focuses to get the best alternative. He takes quite enough time to look for as many alternatives as possible before making any decision. This type of person does a thorough analysis.

“A positive attitude can really make dreams come true, it did for me.” -David Bailey

Although, they have made the best choice, after a long analysis. Still, if they come across anything better than this, they again begin to reanalyze their choices for the next best solution. They always desire to get the maximum benefits or outcomes from their efforts.

I would give an example to understand the Amplifier type of people. Suppose, he has already purchased an advanced smartphone which is a recently launched mobile and one of the best mobiles. Now he is visiting one more store, he happens to see one other mobile quite decent than what he just purchased. Now he has found one more alternative, he feels bad about his previous purchase. But that previous one fulfills all his requirements.

This means, now he is feeling bad about his previous decision. His decision seems to be bad to him. So, I put this type of person in the “maximizer” list because he seeks only the best. Every time, they need assurance for their decisions.

Same ‘Maximizers’ are available in Digital Marketing, they keep on searching for the best subjects, images and need assurance if they are doing good.

2) Satisficer or Complacent-

The second type of decision-maker is ‘Satisficer’. We know that the complacent people are with specific criteria or parameters. This concept was proposed by U.S. Nobel Prize-winning economist, Herbert A Simon by conjoining two words ‘satisfying’ and ‘sufficing’.

The Satisficers opt for their parameters, which explore the best available alternatives. They set a standard for themselves, which if met, they will make the decision. This is quite unlike “Maximizers”. The Satisficers wait for a set parameter of decisions. Once, Satisficers get this desired alternative what is set. He makes his decision happily. Suppose, if any best alternative comes up they will not go for it, unlike the ‘Maximizers’.

For example, if a Satisficer wants to buy a flat. He will set certain important standards, he wants to see in the flat. He will search for the required things, he wants in his flat. He will explore and compile various available alternatives. Suppose, he will check the distance of his flat area, safety issues, water supply, electricity supply some more things what he needs for his comfort.

Once he finds his flat that addresses his standards of safety and Requirements. He makes his decision to buy that flat. He never goes for second options. He only prefers his required standards.

A ‘Satisficer’always prefers something that is the best in his eyes. He never worries about the other alternatives, that may be better. His searching ends, the moment he is satisfied with his findings. He doesn’t settle for low standards. He keeps his standards very high. He finds the right alternatives sufficed with qualities, he is satisfied.

There are some bloggers, who are ‘Satisficers’ if they decide to write a certain topic, with the satisfaction they work on it and research some best content.

3) Perfectionist or Complementary-

The third category of decision-makers is ‘ Perfectionists ‘. The Perfectionists are the people who keep on looking for their options. The moment they find the perfect one, their search stops. They don’t want imperfections in their work. They want to be known as flawless so that no one should doubt their decisions.

“Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision.”-Peter F Drucker

They live for perfection until they find this standard. The ‘Perfectionists’ always work to achieve the best outcome, as the ‘Maximizers’ do. But you will find a key difference between both of them. They both like to get standard performance. The ‘Perfectionists’ keep high standards and stop searching with the found result.

The life of a ‘Perfectionist’ is full of an attraction. He keeps everything perfect and spotless. He manages a great living standard, a great career.

Perfection word may be a deception. In Blogging, there always come some good content writers, who are better than their previous generation writers.

4) Optimist-

Now our fourth decision-maker is ‘Optimist’. An ‘Optimist’ is a quite positive minded person. He knows that finding a perfect solution is quite difficult. An ‘Optimist’ is mindful and he works with constraints and keeps reality in mind. He knows that nothing will ever be perfect, so he is kind of ambitious.

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement; nothing can be done without hope.”-Helen Keller

The ‘Optimist is a kind of not satisfied with good enough; he is an ambitious person; he desires for more, but doesn’t run after sheer perfection. He is an expert in managing whatever he has achieved with his hard work, but he is not ‘crazy’ running after perfection. He is quite different from ‘Maximizer or Perfectionist’. He stands between somewhat ‘Satisficer and Perfectionist’

Digital Marketing also requires this quality. A Digital Marketer needs to be optimistic. His success will come with time and experience.

5) Null Decider-

My fifth Decision Maker is a person, who remains neutral when he has to make a decision. He remains non-decider. The Null Decider is kind of quite impatient. He remains busy in only taking suggestions. He perhaps never has a fixed plan to go ahead and decide what to do. He collects all the information thinking that he is quite capable to do it, but when the time comes to make a decision. He delays and procrastinates citing some lame excuses.

There are many Null Deciders in Digital Marketing, many want to join Digital Marketing, want to be bloggers or affiliate. They want to earn money, but when the time comes to decide, they remain behind.

Conclusion-

We have discussed 5 types of Decision Makers, how they work, and how they behave or what they do before finalizing a decision. We have seen that a ‘Maximizer’ never seems to be happy with whatever is achieved. He can expand his searches for better things. A ‘Maximiser’ may regret his previous decisions.

A ‘Perfectionist’ knows his standards, but he better knows how to manage with available best things. Therefore, he makes his decision. The journey of ‘Perfectionist’ may seem to be endless. A ‘Perfectionist’ can be unhappy with his decisions but he is better than a ‘Maximizer’.

The ‘Satisficer’ is found regretting less than other Decision Makers. He seems to be happy with what he has decided, and never worries about what the next trend or latest products have come.

The category ‘Optimist’ is something everyone may like to achieve because ‘Optimist’ controls his surge of desires and works in limitations. He better knows that things can’t be perfect, therefore, he tries to search for the best possible things.

As a new blogger, now it is up to you, to decide which type of decision-makers are you and what type of similarities you mind in your decision-making attitude.
