8 Basic Things I Wish I knew Before starting a blog

Glad to know that you have decided to blog. In 2020, blogging remained indeed the most sought career choice. In 2021, it will grow up more significantly. So a career in blogging in 2021 can be a good option.

You can easily set up your blog using the WordPress application.

you must have thought many times to start a blog and share your knowledge and experience on the blog page.

I proceed with this belief that you may have chosen your niche, what you would write about, selected website domain name and a hosting server.

How I Became a Blogger-

Here, I should share my experience also that a few months ago, I had been in the same phase, brooding a lot, searching web-pages, or watching videos related to blogging tips.

I would say first of all that I preferred free tools and a free hosting platform in the beginning. I invested money on domain name only.

As I love writing and I had written many short dramas for my students and the syllabus of my course. But writing is a different platform. One has to write for online readers. Internet readers who come in search of any solution and information. That means if you want to write something either on social media platforms or websites. You must have experience and deep knowledge of particular subjects or issues.

Therefore, I kept learning how to create a blog, made some notes, and would write my experience as notes. I spent a few days searching for my niche. What I can do for a long time. Then I found that I could write blogs for new bloggers who would join after me. I can guide now new bloggers, as I have learned basic things, so far written approximately 40 blogs on my website as well as the same number of articles on Quora and other websites.

I wrote content for 3 websites so this has all boosted my confidence to write blogs as a guide to new bloggers.

Earlier it had never been easier to start a blog until some ready-made websites did not come like WordPress. Since WordPress started providing free website templates, themes, and plugins. Website creation became so easier that had never been before.

If you want to start a successful blog, it is not that quite simple and straightforward. You have to work hard and strictly follow a few steps.

There are a few important concepts that need to be sincerely followed before you begin to create your first blog post. This article should have these five concepts that will immensely help you create a successful blog that you will be proud of forever!

1)Make proper planning-

Having a plan is very essential to create a blogging website. Don’t be in hurry to start your blog and create your website. If you see other bloggers successfully earning money, and want to start blog seeing them.

Then I should warn you it will be a big mistake. Everyone has a different talent.

You have to decide on a proper and relatable domain name for your website and set up your website. Design it properly and include pages like Home, Contact, Privacy Policy, Blogs, and About Us.

You should determine-

• What the blog will be about
• The goals of your blog
• How long you can continue the blog
• How often you will be posting
• Theme and Pattern of your blogs
• Promotion methods
• Post regularly
• Prefer free available tools and hosting
• Self-learning mode
• Add logo and favicon icon

(It helps readers to recognize and remember your blog page)

There are some more necessary things are, you can learn by the time when you start seriously. Only writing blogs won’t serve the purpose.

You are writing for the internet users. Therefore, your website must look professional. There must be diligent planning and proper structure.

You should visit other websites and collect the details that you need on your website and blog page.

There should be a good hosting server and related domain name to your blogging content.

2) Blogging needs a lot of effort-

Never think even for a single moment that writing blogs is as easy as it looks. You can’t just read the title and write down the quality content in a few minutes.

You need to invest a huge amount of time, energy, and research into writing any content, then start editing, rewriting, formatting properly, searching images that describe the content’s motto is a huge task and time-consuming.

After doing all this, you published the blog, but your work doesn’t stop here. Now, you have to promote your blog and post and share on all possible and different social media platforms, like Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, and Twitter, etc. Even request all your acquaintances to share and forward.

Therefore, prepared to work longer and harder. Since you don’t get the audience in the beginning what will you do?

Have patience, it will take months to get traffic. It also depends on how popular you are on social media, if you have hundreds or thousands of followers on social media platforms then you have a few quick chances to receive good traffics.

3) Not easy to earn money-

We so often read that bloggers make good money online just through their blogs. Yes, that is true!

But they are very seniors and experienced bloggers. They have been active in blogging for decades so have millions of subscribers and followers.

Being a new blogger, reaching that level will take years of constant work and patience. Hence, if you think, your earning will start after a few months, then stop here.

Don’t run behind the money, people will say that they are earning money from You don’t have to get trapped in this net.

Your utmost focus should be on content creation and giving quality content to your readers. you should focus on winning the trust of your readers.

4) Choose your niche-

Choosing your field is one of the most important things. What you are going to do on your website matters most. You should select your field, where you are good at, what you can do fantastically and better than others. What you interest in. Never take chances here and there.

Nobody will believe in you until you get proper specialization. There are thousands of websites and millions of blogs. You can only stand out in the noise with the special services that you are going to provide.

With your defined niche, you will be quite capable to identify who your ideal readers are, how you should target them.

Don’t copy-paste from the internet. Write something you are knowledgeable as well as love doing. If you are passionate about your work. It will reflect on your content.

You have to learn how you can hook your audience to your content and ensure they must return to read again and again.

5) Start Small-

There is no harm if you begin with small steps. As a beginner, you are not sure how things work and do ahead. You can decide later that you want to proceed as a blogger or not.

Therefore, I would recommend starting with small steps. Don’t invest huge money, but try to continue with a little amount and available .

Blogger and WordPress are great applications. You should start with these tools and learn properly. You can start blogs for free. Learn here and hone your writing skills.

6) Content is king-

Readers want to read about the solution for their problems, they want to get reliable information. If you succeeded in providing then your chances have gone up.

Good blogs contain great content. Therefore, I recommend don’t be in hurry to publish your blog but take time, do thorough research then post your blogs.

Don’t be stingy when you write the content, but spend a few hours in writing and editing. And edit very carefully and patiently.

If you provide high-quality content to your audience, whether you are a beginner. Google or other search engines will pick it up and place it in the top place.

Therefore, what you have to do, invest dedicated time, read as many articles as possible, search newspapers then write your blogs.

7) Learn Basic SEO-

Actually, search engine optimization ( SEO) is a bit tricky. As a beginner, you may find it very difficult to do. But a well-optimized content finds its readers naturally. It is an important factor.

I would recommend you learn about SEO tools, patterns, and methods on daily basis. I have suggested some free tools and methods in my previous blogs. They will help you a lot.

8) Ready to learn new things and be yourself-

If you come from a non-technical ground, chances are that you will have to learn so many things. Be ready to pick up a lot of new skills as you get serious about blogging.

Every blogger faces this kind of challenge in the beginning. he needs to understand basic SEO, analytics, theme, templates, plugins, keywords research so on.

But no need to worry about these things. Internet is an ocean of knowledge. You will get all of them here. I have written all details in my previous blogs. Hopefully, they will guide you to acquire these skills.

I would strongly recommend one thing here, don’t copy anyone, be yourself. Create your identity and build your authority. Develop your special style and voice. Enjoy your talent and be patient. Write about what you love and share your real experience.
